Tier Two Engineer

The Tier Two Engineer will be responsible for providing professional services to new or existing customers that can include: business and technical consulting, analysis, design, implementation, system troubleshooting, performance optimization, and documentation. Services are provided both at the client site and via phone, email, and internet. In addition to the billable activity, the Tier Two Engineer supports pre-sales configuration and design activities, skills and certification maintenance, and research and technology development tasks.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Maintain core components of Windows server infrastructure, including WINS, DNS, DHCP, File and Print services, Terminal Services licensing, and Active Directory
  • Resolution of escalated hardware failures and server outages, including data recovery
  • Manage Anti-virus software upgrade, deployment, and maintenance
  • Produce and maintain documentation of the server infrastructure and environment
  • Daily tasks may include though are not limited to incident response, monitoring, investigation, project implementation, as well as basic operational support inclusive of rotating on-call support
  • Provides guidance in predicting and monitoring performance and capacity and addressing related issues
  • Manage system performance, reliability, and availability to service-level agreements
  • Assist with data backups and restores, as required
  • Perform troubleshooting analysis of servers, workstations and associated systems
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus, and anti-spam
  • Oversee software and network security
  • Interface with clients and other technical support staff
  • Provide excellent customer service and display a strong technical ability

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education – Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar
  • Systems – Windows, Cisco Systems
  • Networking – Servers, switches, routers, hubs, cables, racks, firewalls,
  • Service – MSP Best Practices
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex technical issues with innovative solutions
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to formulate plans, strategies, and outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and meet project deadlines
  • Able to balance deliverables for multiple projects at one time
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions
